How do I apply?

If you would like to register your child for possible admission to Somerset College please complete the following procedure:

Make an online application including submission of the required documents and payment of the application fee.
Completed applications will be placed on the relevant waiting list.
If and when a space becomes available in the requested grade, all applicants for Grades 1 to 7 will complete an assessment in Literacy and Numeracy. Grade 8 to 10 and Cambridge AS, complete a Placement Assessment in Mathematics and English. Grade 11 applications are only accepted under exceptional circumstances.
- Additional documentation will be required prior to the assessment and will be communicated at that time.
- In specific instances, assessments and interviews can be done remotely.
- Grade 000 to Gr 0 have no formal assessment and the application will be reviewed by the Head of the Pre-Preparatory School when a place becomes available.
- In all other grades, once the assessment is completed, a review by the Academic Committee will be undertaken.
- If we can proceed with the application, a meeting with the Academic Committee, and where applicable, the Head of Boarding will proceed.
A final decision on the application will be made by the Academic Committee after the meeting.
Either a letter of offer or regret will then be communicated.
If we are not in a position to place your child in the year you have applied for, the application will be rolled to the following year.

You will require:

Your child’s birth certificate
A copy of your child’s most recent school report (not applicable to pre-school students)
A copy of your child's Passport document (Foreign students)
A copy of your (Parent/Guardian) Identity/Passport document
Proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee of R500

For your convenience you are required to transfer the registration fee of R500.00 directly into our bank account, details as follows:

Once payment of the application fee has been received, you will receive a letter confirming receipt of your application.
